Titanium AK Gas Piston (Operating Rod)
A portion of the propellant gases is directed through an orifice into the
gas tube
,
where the gas piston is installed. Under gas pressure, the piston drives the bolt carrier rearward, unlocking the barrel. The spent cartridge case is ejected.
Installs in place of the factory unit. Using this component provides several advantages:
- Reduced weight. Titanium is lighter and stronger than steel.
Factory piston — 85 g, titanium piston — 45 g. - Resistance to operating conditions. Titanium is neutral to corrosion, moisture, and temperature fluctuations.
- Lower stress on the mechanism. Reduced inertia of moving parts positively affects the service life of the rifle or carbine.
